It is Grand Final Day for the national game, Aussie Rules, as I write this in Melbourne today.

So not being particularly sporty myself, I thought I’d share with you the list of distilleries in and around this fine city.

Many offer a tasting room experience, masterclasses, tours and tastings. In some places, there’s usually a great food truck nearby, or they provide meals as well, all have their own personalities. Just check their socials and website in advance before you visit.

Some are tourist destinations in their own right in terms of fitout and scale, such as the big players, Four Pillars Gin and Starward.

For the smaller operators you get to meet the people who actually make the spirits, the perfect way to discover new Aussie spirits, the majority are family-owned and inspired by their local communities, of which they are an important part of the vibrant food and wine culture here.
