I thought I’d share with you the list of distilleries in and around this fine city.

Most offer a tasting room experience, masterclasses, tours and tastings, of course. In many places, there’s usually a great food truck nearby, or they provide meals as well, all have their own personalities.

Some are tourist destinations in their own right in terms of fitout and scale, such as the big players, Four Pillars Gin and Starward.

For the smaller operators you get to meet the people who actually make the spirits, the perfect way to discover new Aussie spirits, the majority are family-owned and inspired by their local communities, of which they are an important part of the vibrant food and wine culture here.

Having just moved here, I’ll do my best to get to all of them in due course, and you can see some recent chats with distillers both in the city and in regional Victoria on my YouTube’s Meet the Makers series.

Naturally,there are also several other makers in the city and surrounding area who are produced under contract, or not accessible to the public.
