Spring Update 2025

Well, welcome to Spring, or Autumn if you’re reading this North of the Equator! Today, in Canberra we’ve been treated to a dusting of snow and the ranges that surround the city, whilst the first blossoms are also out in bright sunshine.

I’m taking it all in with a bittersweet feeling as I’ll be shifting cities for work and life in a few weeks to Melbourne, which is very exciting.

So I’ve been kept busy on that front these past months, but it does mean that I’ll be able to bring you new content with the many fabulous distillers around Victoria, plus some of the superb cocktail scene there, but that finally gives me the opportunity to update my top Melbourne Martini list too!

But there may be a special event in the pipeline back in Canberra in October that I may be part of, so local friends, it’s au revoir, not goodbye,

I have added some distillers to the lists, another three or so gin, vodka, and whisky producers. There seems to be some stabilisation in the growth of the industry, with some makers I speak to looking to diversify revenue streams as there is so much competition, and indeed drinking trends are changing (I’m all for moderation) – and I will be looking at low-alc and zero alcohol releases later this year.

Regarding my series, we have a production company super keen to make it, an Australian firm with an Emmy to their credit, so now we are looking for the funds to make it possible, so it is progressing slowly but surely. These things do take time I’ve learnt but we’re getting there, investors are welcome to contact me!

Here are some of my favourite articles you may have missed along the way:

I’ll be chatting to you next time from Melbourne!
