Happy World Martini Day!
Some bright spark somewhere decided that June 21 should be a day when we celebrate the most iconic of cocktails, the most elusive in its perfection, and the one so layered with symbolism.
Since we’ve gathered so many new subscribers since last year (thank you!) I thought it might be useful to share with you a compilation of my many musings on the Martini. Clearly I’m obsessed and really should get out more often!
But how is it that a cocktail, so seemingly simple to construct, for the most part always falls short in its perfection? Even last night at a five-star hotel I ordered one, just plain old Tanqueray, dry with a twist. And it was practically room temperature in an unchilled glass.
Eeek!!
So here are some tips, insights, and inspiration in your own search for Martini perfection. Enjoy.
