As John Lennon once sang, ‘life is what happens to you when you’re busy making other plans.” So, clearly 2020 is big on making the most of having to make other plans.
Wherever you are, I hope you and yours are safe and well.
For myself, I’ve been fortunate in being able to fall back on some other skills sets and get some work after I had a year’s worth of events and other gigs evaporate in March like so many others due to you know what.
Locally in Canberra we’ve been spared the worst of things and are about to open out in a relatively normal way (for now) but making plans to clearly a fickle business. But I have endeavoured to stay in touch with you and other spirits and martini lovers through this site, my YouTube channel, Facebook and Instagram.
Happily I’ve also been invited by companies like Gin Society and Underground Spirits and Antipodes gin among others to share my insights into their range of spirits along the way too, so that’s been a lot of fun. Plus there was World Gin Day and World Martini Day events I hosted online that were a lot of fun and a chance to meet old and new friends.
I even took advantage of Dry July to so some much needed body balancing and feel the better for it. Remember folks, don’t do the cocktail crime if you can’t do the gym time! 😉
Anyways, I thought I’d take the opportunity to bring you up to speed on a few resources and insights you may have missed from recent times.

YouTube Channel
I add new clips each weekend ranging from Martini masterclasses, or quick reviews of a spirit, or longer videos of events, interviews with distillers and more… there’s over 40 clips now, so I invite you to swing past and even better, subscribe! My Channel can be found here.

Events at Food I Am Wagga Wagga
All being well, I’m returning to this award winning cooking school in Wagga Wagga for a two night appearance to share my insights into Australian craft spirits. There’s just a few spots left for each.
Canberra Soirées
Things are looking up here locally thankfully, so I’m resuming my events from next week with a series of private gin, rum and whisky tastings and Martini masterclasses. There are also some larger public events in the pipeline in September with a corporate client (woo hoo! ) so stay tuned for details of those if you can make it. I’m also doing some cocktail making experiences for things like birthdays and bridal showers for small groups.
So if you’re yearning for something along those lines, please get in touch below.

Online Masterclasses
Like everyone else, I had to pivot, and have lots of these virtual events in the past months, lots of fun, both for Australian and international audiences. These included Zoom Martini masterclasses and gin tastings, so please get in touch if that interests you with your ideas and I can give you a quote.
Upcoming Reviews
We’ve a bunch of reviews in the pipeline for you here on the website:
